Dear Mr. Warren,
My English past is basically every year of school. I don’t read or write much over the summer and the only thing I read over this summer was manga. The last thing I wrote was the final critical lens essay for English 10. This doesn’t mean I don’t like reading and writing, I just don’t go out and find something I would like to read. Most of the books last year I did like to read, but they all had a very slow pace and I didn’t really liked that pace . The book I liked the most was the one I choose for independent reading which was Runner by Carl Deuker. I liked the book because it has an interesting story and the pace was good. I hope in English 11 I get to read more books like that.
I would like it if we read more books like that but my expectations are that we are going to read more books that have a slow pace like last year but longer. That’s what I dislike about English class. What I like about English class is the occasional good book that I would like to read. The writing I don’t mind because I like voicing my opinions and writing is just putting those opinions down on paper. I hope that writing can help me in future plans.
English fits in my future because I think I will have to read and type a lot. My future plan is to get into some kind of job dealing with animation and special effects for movies or shows. Maybe if I can game designing. For jobs like that I would have to know how to read and write so I know what people want me to make. So that their vision will be shown to the pubic the way they want it. Also when I think I can make a scene better I can write it down and show them but I don’t think people with that job are that involved with the story of the movie, show or game.
Form, Jack Lin
